Germanic Lexicon Project

The current major goal is to create free online editions of Cleasby/Vigfusson's An Icelandic-English Dictionary and Bosworth/Toller's An Anglo-Saxon Dictionary and supplement. You are invited to contribute to this project by correcting pages. The following system has been set up to make the correction process as easy as possible.

Bird's-eye view of the project

Newly submitted corrections are incorporated into the master dictionary files once a week, late Saturday evening (U.S. east coast time). You can download the entire dictionary from the main dictionary pages: Bosworth/Toller and Cleasby/Vigfusson pages. The search engine database is updated at the same time.

You can read about the history of this project here. The work on Bosworth/Toller has been in progress since 2001; the work on Cleasby/Vigfusson has been in progress since 2003. Both were on the back burner until the hand corrections of Torp were done-- but they're done now.

The major project right now is Bosworth/Toller and Cleasby/Vigfusson. However, there are other ways you can help as well.
